Hydraulic Filtration by Donaldson

Modern hydraulic systems cannot handle corrosion, require more rigorous standards of cleanliness, and necessitate higher filtration performance.

Contamination is the number one cause of hydraulic system breakdowns. Having a neglected filter in your machine requires a lot of financial upkeep from, for example, the downtime in investigating the failure or having new filters installed.

This can be prevented by simply replacing the hydraulic filter when the need arises

Donaldson filters are specifically designed to perform in a broad array of hydraulic applications that consistently meet required specifications – and your expectations. It is important to choose the right filter based on your fluid characteristics and efficiency requirements.

Low-Pressure Filtration

Operating pressure must be < 350 psi (24 bar)

Low-pressure filters are the most common filter in hydraulic circuits, especially in return line applications. They can work under pressures up to 350 psi (2400 kPa). In-tank and in-line configurations suit practically any application.

Medium Pressure Filtration

Operating pressure must be < 2,000 psi (138 bar)

Medium pressure filters such as Donaldson Duramax® filters can be used in applications up to 2000 psi (13790 kPa) with spin-on and in-line cartridge-style filters. There is little need to look elsewhere as they are everlasting and easy to set up.

High Pressure Filtration

Operating pressure must be < 6,500 psi (450 bar)

High pressure filters help to protect critical components such as cylinders, motors and valves from catastrophic failure. They are accustomed to working under pressures of up to 6500 psi (44818 kPa). Numerous porting sizes and types, including manifold style, are available. They have unique filtration performance options, integrated mounting brackets and custom design options.

Donaldson Blue Filters

Similar to the Donaldson Blue® line of fuel and bulk tank filters, Donaldson Blue hydraulic cartridge filters offer the ultimate performance through their optimal balance of efficiency, capacity and flow restriction. They help to protect equipment, reduce maintenance costs and increase equipment uptime – increasing your bottom line.

Superior efficiency − for cleaner fluid and less damaging contaminant in your hydraulic systems.

Longer filter life − for extended filter change intervals, reducing time and expense for servicing equipment.

Reduced flow restriction − reduces energy loss and time in filter bypass, even during cold starts.

Meets HF4 automotive standard.

DT Cartridge Fillers

Every hydraulic system has suspended particles in its fluid.  Contaminants grind and wear at the surface of moving parts, introducing even more particles into the system, causing over 70% of system downtime.

Donaldson DT cartridge filters provide lasting protection from particles and contaminants by using Donaldson Synteq™ media technology, allowing for higher initial cleanliness, superior system protection and high-efficiency media grades with performance to β<4(c)=1000 (per ISO 16889).

What features do the DT Cartridge Fillers have?

Epoxy-Coated Steel Support Mesh (Upstream and Downstream Sides), Media Support Layers (Upstream and Downstream Sides), Synteq™ Media technology, Exceptionally low flow resistance.

What are the advantages of DT Cartridge Fillers?

Provides 73% higher dirt-holding capacity and 47% lower initial pressure drop than traditional filters, with micron ratings down to 2 microns. Protects against media damage during handling and installation. Provides excellent pleat support and spacing, which allows for a maximum effective media area. Improved effectiveness of lubricant and hydraulic fluid.

Donaldson replacement cartridges for Pall® Ultipleat® SRT 219, 319 and 619 provide excellent protection from particles and contaminants that reduce the lubricant and hydraulic fluid efficacy.

What are the features PALL?

High-efficiency Donaldson Synteq™ glass fibre media grades with performance to β<4(c)=1000 (per ISO 16889). Double-wire backed with an epoxy-coated steel mesh for excellent pleat support and spacing, allowing maximum media area and excellent protection for applications that have operating pressure surges. The inside to outside flow path also reduces the likelihood of cross-contamination during filter service. Consistent performance throughout filter life. Potted with epoxy-based adhesives. Viton® o-ring seals for compatibility with a wide range of fluid types.

What are the advantages of PALL?

Smooth, rounded fibres for low resistance to fluid flow. Resists charge generation and reduces the occurrence of electrostatic discharges induced by the flow of fluids through the filter media.
